BROOKLYN & 1898
MANHATTAN TOUR

The Mosley-Cooper Heritage Site has genes that reach back over 150 years. The house was built by and for the Mosley family. From their home, they witnessed the only successful coup d'etat in U.S. history, as it violently traversed the African-American community, passing the Mosley house, within a block of the Manhattan Park, ushering in the Jim Crow Era and the banishment of African-American families, political leaders, and those who were vocal businessmen and entrepreneurs in the city.

This Victorian style house is a historical landmark which survived the test of time, as the family continued to provide humanitarian services to their community. The location is a historical example of old neighborhoods and homes that are at an economic disadvantage to survive the resurgence of gentrification. It is now the home for the Mosley-Cooper Heritage House, with its mission to help educate our youth on the significant contribution of African Americans.

This walking tour is an outside viewing of 20 or more houses, buildings, and sites, and it begins and ends in front of the Paddles at the 1898 Memorial.

DOWNTOWN &
1898 TOUR
